biography

Rosie Salvucci is a double bassist with an international career spanning orchestral, chamber, and historical performance across Europe and North America. She is currently a bassist in the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment's scheme in London and a member of Berlin-based Musica Sequenza. She has performed with the Opernhaus Zürich, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Ensemble Resonanz, Il Pomo d'Oro, Philharmonie Luxembourg, and the Helsinki Philharmonic, among others, and is a regular guest with the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin, Ensemble Resonanz, and the Brandenburger Symphoniker.

 

Her interest in period performance led her to specialize in Early Music and Violone at the Universität der Künste Berlin. She previously served as Solo Bassist in the Orchestra Academy of Teatro alla Scala in Milan. She holds a Master's from the Hochschule für Musik Basel and a Bachelor's from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, where she graduated cum laude with Distinction in Research and Creative Work.

She is also a graduate of the Walnut Hill School for the Arts and New England Conservatory's Preparatory Program, where she graduated with honors.

She was offered a trial period with the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff in 2018.

Rosie can be heard on the soundtrack to Star Trek, among many other Netflix shows. She also recently recorded on a CD for Warner Classics Korea and most recently a recording for Deutsche Grammophon.


Rosie recently acquired a beautiful 8' violone from Oskar Kappelmeyer in Passau and is eager to explore and perform even more early music on it.


In addition to performing, Rosie loves to teach. She has been a private teacher at the Berlin Cosmopolitan School since 2018 and also teaches privately at home and online. She enjoys working with students of all ages and nationalities, sharing her passion for the double bass and helping them develop their musical skills.


Rosie began to play bass at the age of 9 and studied with Steven Zeserman of the San Antonio Symphony and subsequently studied with Christopher Hanulik, Lawrence Wolfe, Timothy Pitts, Paul Ellison, Roman Patkolo. She speaks English, Spanish, German, some French, and some Italian.
